Views of the river from the footpath heading upstream from the centre of Stratford on Avon. There are busy main roads on both sides of, and running roughly parallel to, the river. Although each road is only a couple of hundred yards away, rural tranquility is only a short stroll from the town.
Young swan, one of the large number which haunt the river at Stratford on Avon, attracted by rich pickings from the tourists. On a quiet winter morning this bird had set off alone, and was systematically eating grass.

The same male blackbird featured the previous post, this time on the ground then taking off. As the bird moved around, patches of white in the feathers became visible.
Male blackbird recently, limbering up for spring. From a vantage point on top of a heavily pruned bush, the bird repeatedly broke out into subsong, paused and restarted.
