More of the damsel flies on the pool at Wightwick Manor in early June.

The electric blue species were not pausing at all.

This elder leaf  has been reduced to a skeleton of its toughest parts by insects eating it.

The red flecks, common on sycamore leaves, are a result of insect activity.

Newly forming cones from two types of pine trees.

This fleshy plant used to be a cheap way of feeding pigs – hence the name.

Seed-heads of grasses.

The berries just beginning to form, in early June.

This is probably a young one. It let me get close enough for a picture even though I didn’t have a particularly long lens.

Not in fact what the name suggests, but a froth which hides and protect the nymph of a froghopper: a small insect.
