Group of four goosanders swimming strongly upstream on the Severn at Shrewsbury earlier this month.
I’d first spotted a group of six near the Port Hill footbridge earlier in the day. Fired off a lot of shots. Each time I pressed the shutter, all six dived together after fish – they didn’t even seem to be catching much.
These were out about sunset, first seen as they were about to swim under Welsh Bridge. Although they were moving against a fast current, I had to walk briskly to keep up with them.
