Green-veined white butterfly on purple loosestrife flowers. The sunlight shining through its wings throwing the veining of the underwing in strong emphasis.

Vibernum (guelder rose) berries on the bushes by the canal in Compton Rough, half ripe as they turn from yellow to red.

Opened flower and flower buds on a hollyhock growing in a garden at the bottom of the Cartway in Bridgnorth in August.

Half-grown moorhen chick seimming along in the middle of the canal near the Wildside Centre. There was one adult visible nearby, staying closer to the bank opposite the towpath.

A large patch of thistles is speading around the pool in Compton Park. As the seeds ripened, they attracted severqal goldfinches to feed, but the birds flew off before I got within camera distance. As a consolation prize, I took these pictures of thistledown which had been trapped instead of reaching its destination.
