Is this a White Admiral?

Large, mainly brown butterfly which glided around before settling down on a nettle and appeared to be laying eggs. Possibly one of the variant forms of white admiral butterfly lacking the white patch on the wings.

Tansy flowering. Look out for the small patch of green on the first image, a shield bug. One the second image the bug heads over the edge of the flowers. Then a red-eyed fly arrives instead.

Busy bee, New Place garden

The petals of this flower in New Place, Stratford, garden have been designed to attract humans, not insects after pollen. That doesn’t seem to have deterred this busy bee.

Alert song thrush in short grass

Song thrush listening alertly, possibly for sounds of prey in the short grass. The bird was aware that I wasn’t far away, but did not seem at all worried.
