No need to be wary of these. Despite the superficial resemblance, they aren’t nettles, and don’t sting.

A rather less exotic denizen of the York Museum Gardens, a male blackbirds hunts for prey.

York Museum is set in extensive grounds. Remains of a castle, and more extensive remains of an abbey, with paths leading down to the river. There’s also the botanic gardens, with plantings such as this glacier  lily.

In spring, the bank the almost complete city walls rest on are covered in banks of daffodils.

These looked like dried pods at the top of a long thin stem in the Royal Botanical Gardens. I couldn’t see any sigh of a label for them.
