Female mallard with two recently hatched ducklings, tip of the Bylet, Bridgnorth. One duckling was swimming in the current as if jet propelled, hawking for flies. The other one pictured was sleeping on the island, just like mother. A third duckling appeared after I put the camera away.

Hungry horses, Castlecroft
Horses in a field by the canal at Castlecroft. They always seem to be eating when I’m down that way.

Orange tip butterflies, mating
Male orange tip butterfly fluttering as it heads towards a female perched on a grass stalk. The female (which doesn’t have the orange patch that gives the species its name) is waving her abdomen in the air to spread the pherenomes which have attracted the male. These pictures taken a week later than the sequence in the previous post.
