Large red damselfly and a common blue damselfly, both seen resting on bulrush leaves at the edge of Compton park pool on the same day. Both insects are males.
When I saw them, there were perhaps half a dozen of the blues flying around, but just the one red pictured here.
Young rabbits out sunning themselves one morning on Mary Arden’s Farm, Wilmcote. One of them periodically had bouts of leaping high.
Seen on the same walk along the canal. One heron taking off and heading for the Smestow after a dog got too close. Further along, at Castlecroft, another heron lands on the towpath, then takes up position watching the water for prey.

Speckled wood resting on a grass leaf. This butterfly is quite often found in shady gardens, a substitute for their preferred territory of a clear patch in woodland.
A female goosander fishing and preening on the Severn just downstream of the Bylet at Bridgnorth. Two other females, fishing together just a little later, upstream of the bridge.
