The Gloucester Old Spot boar at Northycote Farm recently. From a distance I could see him wandering all round the pig enclosure. As I approached, he retreated to the sty, where he stayed with just his ears and snout still catching the sunlight. He was still in the same position when I returned some time later after a stroll thorugh the wood.
Autumnal leaves and berries on a spindle tree. This one was in the hedge by the path at Northycote Farm.
Squirrel at the base of a tree, looking round to check whether it’s being watched. Perhaps guarding the half-buried acorn by its paw.
Tiny fungus fruiting bodies growing along the top of a mossy wall by Tettenhall Road.
Ram, in with some ewes in one of the main pens at Northycote Farm, because its that time of year. And a still young-looking lamb, with other ewes in a neaby field.
The carrion crows of Wollaton Park, Nottingham, seem particularly bold. The bird in the first three pictures saw I was watching and photographing it, and began to step insouciantly towards me.
