A change for Christmas – weathervanes, Chipping Campden

Weathervane: whale

Chipping Campden, like many Cotswolds towns, has many big, old and doubtless expensive houses in its centre. Those on the High Street have front doors directly on the pavement, and many have individualised doorknockers. Running parallel with the high street is the original back lane (actually called Back End).

There many house fronts are obscured behind hedges or walls and front gardens. Several of these houses have what look like bespoke weathervanes. Likely the fleeing fox, and perhaps also the horse and jockey, proclaim support for the local hunt. Not sure what the whale signifies, but it was the one which caught my fancy.

A change for Christmas: more doorknockers

18_09_17-0800

More doorknockers, again mainly on wildlife themes. A stone painted with a gecko has sneaked in, edging the street-front garden of the same person displaying the geckos in yeaterday’s set.

Reindeer, Codsall and Wergs Garden Centre (Merry Christmas)

Reindeer, Codsall and Wergs Garden Centre (Merry Christmas)

Animated singing reindeer at Codsall and Wergs Garden Centre, which proved a hit with toddlers. They had mouths moving in time to the singing. When the song had female voice only, the one on the left operated, the one on the right for a male voice.
