Orchids at Baggeridge Country Park, some beginning to go to seed. Others, growing in a shady patch in the corner of Lydiates orchard, still flowering.

Young robin with its speckled plumage, resting on the barrier between Baggeridge Country Park and the grounds of Himley Hall.

Skipper butterfly (large skipper, perhaps) resting on vegetation by the can towpath near Compton.

Large red damselfly, a female, and so less strongly red-coloured than males. It was resting on grass leaf, out of sight of any open water more extensive than a bird bath.

Wheat field with a cluster of poppies growing by the entrance, seen from the bridleway which runs along the canal at Castlecroft.

Elusive brown butterflies which never settled enough for me to get a clear view of them. These pictures are the clearest from perhaps two dozen tries at getting images of the insects, possibly ringlets. Seen at several wildflower meadows: the ones pictured from Baggeridge Country Park, Bilbrook Jubilee Wood and the Barley Field.
