Large red damselfly, female, on grass leaf

Large red damselfly, a female, and so less strongly red-coloured than males. It was resting on grass leaf, out of sight of any open water more extensive than a bird bath.

Elusive butterflies (ringlets?)

Elusive butterflies (ringlet?)

Elusive brown butterflies which never settled enough for me to get a clear view of them. These pictures are the clearest from perhaps two dozen tries at getting images of the insects, possibly ringlets. Seen at several wildflower meadows: the ones pictured from Baggeridge Country Park, Bilbrook Jubilee Wood and the Barley Field.
