These mushrooms, forming a fairy ring on a front lawn, were just a little too far for a definite identification. But they were probably snowy waxcaps.

Stand for just a few seconds on the shore of the West Park boating lake, and a crowd of waterfowl will converge, hoping for free food. These were stragglers, separated enough from the mass to get individual portraits.

As I was passing a front garden, this garden cross spider decided it was time to abseil down from the top of its web towards the centre. There some prey was held, already completely wrapped in silk, ready to form a meal.
