Hanging by a thread as it worked on its web, a garden cross spider. Most likely to be seen in the autumn, when they reach adult size. Large orb webs [flat and circular] are most likely theirs.

Exuberant turkey tail fungus
Peeping above the leaf litter of Himley Plantation, and showing exuberant growth which has the individual fruiting bodies crowding together more closely than usual. This is turkey tail fungus, common throughout the year, often on tree stumps, a very important agent in the natural recycling of dead wood.
Passion flower flowering, November
Passion flower which I thought had left it too near the winter frosts in producing its flower buds. Here flowering in early November.

Pictures taken on a stroll along the Severn between the Welsh and English bridges on a sunny Sunday morning. Early morning mist softened the views of the autumnal trees on the far bank of the river from the bankside path through Quarry Park. As the mist cleared, the path was closed off a little short of the destination because of flooding.
