Circular dining, a closer view

Some of the winter squatters on West Park lake, shovellers feeding by swimming in tight circles to stir up their food. They usually do so well away from the shore, so on this occasion I took a more powerful lens for a closer view.

Frosted fungus (hairy curtain crust)

Hairy curtain crust fungus, also known as false turkey tail, growing on a fallen tree trunk on Northycote Farm. The log and the edges of the fungus fruiting bodies were covered with frost crystals the morning this picture was taken.
