Plum tree by the Severn at Bridgnorth. These were the very last fruits still clinging to the tree after all the rest had been eaten or brought down by this autumn’s winds.

Lone goosander repeatedly diving without staying under long enough to be chasing fish, by th far bank of the Severn at Bridgnorth.

Some of the winter squatters on West Park lake, shovellers feeding by swimming in tight circles to stir up their food. They usually do so well away from the shore, so on this occasion I took a more powerful lens for a closer view.

Hairy curtain crust fungus, also known as false turkey tail, growing on a fallen tree trunk on Northycote Farm. The log and the edges of the fungus fruiting bodies were covered with frost crystals the morning this picture was taken.

Tufted ducks gathering to ride out the winter on the lake at West Park. As the weeks go by, the numbers are edging up slowly.
