Wood blewit mushrooms, growing by the side of Richmond Road. From the colour, some of them must have emerged very recently when I saw them.

The resident muscovy duck, a drake, by the big lake at Perton, having a preen while standing on the shingle.

The first orange peel fungus I’ve noticed this year, on a patch of bare ground by a tree stump carved as an owl at Castleccroft.

Heron on the big pool at Perton, fishing as it stood in the water by a reed bed, they flying to the island.

Pipe club fungus, around an inch or two tall, so often not very conspicuous in grass, undergrowth and the autumn leaf-fall.

Carrion crows high in trees, on the lookout, masters of all they survey.
