Some of the black-headed gull flock at West Park, on the tops of fence posts and along the shore of the lake, lined up in two rows.

In front gardens on residential streets around here, yuccas which are treating the middle of the hardest winter for several years as their flowering season.

The full moon, late January. Early in the morning, it was shining through thin cloud. The halo of light surrounding the moon had a faint rainbow efffect.

Ear fungus, found all year round, growing for preference on elder. Seems to have a wide range of different textures – these on a fallen elder branch looked velvety.

These wood blweit mushrooms seemed to be thriving despite the frequent sub-zero temperatures. They were even producing new fruiting bodies.
