As snow covered the ground, a male blackbird landed in a buddleia bush, twisting its head as it carefully looked around while working out what it was safe to do next.

Misty morning, West Park. Just visible in the distance, the bridge over the lake. Swimming under it, swans already in pairs. It had been Valentine’s Day the day before, but the swans were already going round two by two by the end of January.
