Buddleia, known as the butterfly bush from the numbers attracted to its flowers. Here one living up to its name. Painted lady, red admiral and peacock butterflies all feeding at the same time

Bright red bodies, long, long antennae. Soldier beetles, feeding on the pollen of hemlock flowers.

Teazle flowers, rings of purple under the hooked spines, attracting a variety of insects to feed on them and spread their pollen.

Young magpie, West Park. Its plumage looking rather scruffy, especially its head feathers. Possibly disarranged by the recent heavy rain.

Bumble bee, possibly a cryptic bumble bee, busy on some of the ragwort flowers in the Barley Meadow.

Common darter dragonfly on the boardwalk of the footbridge over the Compton Park pool. This is a male, the females have a greenish body.
