A dozen still very young ducklings recently by the bottom one of the Wolverhampton 21 Locks at Aldersley Junction, separated from the mother mallard by the brickwork lining the canal bank outside the lock.

Cucumber spider, tiny (less than half a centimetre long), visible because it was standing on a white plastic garden table. Common in gardens, but rarely seen because of their size and the colour their camouflage gives them among the vegetation.

Despite the weather having plenty of warm and wet spells, I haven’t noticed many fungi about. One, showing signs of age, was this in Coppice Wood. It may have been a freckled dapperling.
