Giant polypores, a quite common fungus which grows on dead wood, near the base of a tree in Bantock Park. The first two shots are of the same cluster of fungi, seen a week and a half apart.

Bracket fungi spotted recently in Old Nursery Wood. The blushing bracket was growing on some of the the logs which mark the edge of the paths; the smoky bracket on a tree stump.

Canestrini’s harvestman (Opilio canestrinii) on a leaf. This species first recorded in England in 1999. Since then, has been spreading rapidly, and probably displacing the native harvestman (daddy-long-legs) species.
