Garden plant, pieris, Bridgnorth

The red leaves of this pieris are this year’s growth: the colour is from growth hormone, which the shrub will recycle once its work is done. In front of one of the houses on East Castle Street, Bridgnorth.

Back turned

Back turned

A lone heron on the island of the upper pool at Perton. Perhaps the reason it isn’t with the others at the heronry is because it still an immature. It was hunched up with its back turned to a cold wind.

Crocuses with honey bees, Bridgnorth

Crocuses with honey bees, Bridgnorth

The bees may have been some of those from the nest high in the stonework of the castle ruins.
