Earlier this month, as fewer and fewer flowers were left on the buddleia bushes. A red admiral, hungrily feedin on the nectar in the flowers which were left.

Flowery, minty
Water mint flowering, Compton Park pond. There’s quite a lot of water mint growing in the shallow water of the pond, but it’s hard to spot among the dense taller vegetation of reeds and rushes.
Tubic (possibly)
Tiny insect resting on a leaf, its wings folded. Identified by iNaturalist as a golden-brown tubic (Crassa unitella)
Commonwealth Games
Recently appeared in public spaces around Wolverhampton, presumably to mark the Commonwealth Games and the one event which is taking place (partly) within the city.
The sculptures themselves look good, though possibly not very sturdy. Some of the locations don’t do tem any favours.
A selection of bumbling bees
Included here, though not necessarily in this order, are pictures of an early bumble bee (Bombus pratorum), a yellow-legged mining bee (Andrena flavipes), a red-tailed bumble bee (Bombus lapidarius) and a tree bumbl;e (Bombus hypnorum).
