Early spring flowers: tree, Compton lock
White flowers against the blue sky on a tree behind Compton lock. From a distance, I thought it was either a cherry or an apple. When I saw the flowers, I began to have doubts.
Coot zooming off
One of the many coots on West Park lake, rushing to get somewhere else on the water for no discernible reason.
Treading daisies: moorhen
One of the West Park moorhens seemed intent on trampling down a patch of daisies as it searched for food.
Spring foliage: copper beeches
Copper beeches coming into leaf. From the numbers of mature trees scattered around the city, they were highly fashionable early last century, perhaps even late in the century before.
Early spring flowers: lesser stitchwort
Lesser stitchwort, flowering from early spring and through the summer. Once believed to help wounds heal faster.
