Orange tip caterpillars on the seed pods of jack by the hedge plants. Scroll to earlier posts for pictures of females feeding on the flowers of the same plants, and likely laying the eggs these hatched from.

A group of the resident Canada geese in West Park ambling in step as they were feeding on a patch of lawn which was then covered in daisies.

Another of the coot nests on West Park lake, with recently hatched chicks. This nest is almost directly under the bridge, so I was able to look down to see one of the adults bringing food for the chicks.

A peacock butterfly on the ground, gently waving its wings, possibly trying to dispense pheromones to attract one of the opposite six.

The West Park Canada goose parents escorting their gosling as the trio swim from one side of the lake to the other. As they got almost to the shore, the gosling found something to eat in the water.

The carp in West Park lake seem to be jumping much more often than usual this year. I wasn’t quite fast enough in aiming to get this one while it was showing, but I did get the splash as it returned to its element.
