A now well-grown coot chick on the West Park lake preening. Contorting its neck to reach the down behind its head, possibly because the down it hatched with was now being superseded by adult feathers.
An ashy mining bee, busy gathering pollen from, if I remember correctly, hawkbit flowers growing as weeds on the side streets near the city centre Sainsbury’s.
Cistus (rock rose) flowers just opening. The popular garden shrub is originally from the Mediterranean regions, but seems to thrive here in a wetter and cooler climate.
Three broom bushes with different flowers, all growing together so their flowers were juxtaposed before I moved in close, presumably planted for that effect in West Park.
