A very common and persistent garden weed. In the upper picture the flowers are still buds; the lower is of flowers which are beginning to open.

Pattingham is just about visible on the skyline.

Also known as the hedge brown, this is Britain’s commonest butterfly.

These individuals, on the Saltwells LNR in Brierley Hill, were unusually cooperative.

The view looking towards the Wrekin (above) was taken in Bradley, Staffordshire. The corn field below was just outside Badger, Shropshire. Titterstone Clee and Brown Clee are just about visible on larger versions of the photo (click on picture to go to Flickr for these larger versions).
