As autumn sets in, it’s possible to see spectacular dawn views such as this without getting up too early, and after West Park has been opened for the day. These colour effects were actually at their height about twenty minutes before sunrise on one of the beautiful days last week.
These tiny mushrooms seem to be springing up in woods all around at the moment, growing on the trunks of fallen trees.
This bracket fungus, also known as the birch polypore, was used to sharpen cut-throat razors. Frequently found on dead or dying birch trees.
This was one of several bracket fungi growing on the trunk of the tree adjacent to the host of the razor strop fungus (next post).
