Female flowers on one of the yew trees in West Park. The male flowers grow on separate trees.

Fungus with a shape resembling a miniature column about a centimetre high, with a depression at the top. I haven’t been able to find anything looking even vaguely similar to in the field guides I have.

It was growing on the top of a tree stump by the gateway at Compton Hospice, alongside the commoner turkey tail fungus.

Water from overnight rain sprinkled on the leaves of a patch of greater celandine leaves growing by the towpath at Wightwick Mill Lock earlier in the month.

Glistening inkcap mushrooms which were growing in the bole of a mature willow with twisty bark.

They are quite common, but usually grow in the warmer months of the year. These presumably showed last month thanks to the mildness of the winter.
