Seed head of a tree of heaven, originally from China. Now an ornamental garden tree, partly because of the splashes of colour in winter.

Two lichens growing from a horizontal tree bough. Both are sending out fruiting bodies. Those of the lower set yellow-green lichen are cup shaped. From the other they hang down as multiply forked stems.

Carrion crow which was perched on a branch almost directly over my head. It stayed around just long enough for me to get off this single shot.

Old man’s beard grows abundantly climbing over the bushes by Castle Walk in Bridgnorth. These seeds from last year were still on the plant on a sunny day recently.
