Hyde Mill and millpond, Brewood

Hyde Mill and millpond, Brewood

It’s a (former) watermill with its millpond. It’s by Hyde Mill Lane in Brewood. So I’m guessing that this impressive building is Hyde Mill.

Fly agarics, washed in and washed out

Washed in fly agaric

Heavy rain has removed some of the pigment and the warty remains of the veils of these fly agarics. The colour of the domed specimen has been washed away. The mushroom with the upturned cap has a loss of pigment near the rim, and a darkening at the centre.

Some trees, including alders, start producing catkins in the late autumn/winter just as the seeds from the previous set of catkins are ripening.

These were on one of the alders at the edge of the ponds between Wolverhampton Science Park and the Birmingham Canal.
