A low-lying fungus, or perhaps a slime mould, on a tree trunk. Its surface was a patchwork of browns merging into purples and white.

Clutch of ripening cones. The lowest one still had traces of green but the others had already turned brown.

Nuthatch hanging head downwards from one of the bird feeders at Northycote Farm, extracting seeds and eating them.

Gloucester old spot boar (peeping out of sty) and sow (standing in the mud) at Northycote Farm. Both pigs have muddy noses from snuffing in seach of food.

Male blackbird with several patches of white feathers, standing on a bench on Northycote Farm. A female nearby also had a few patches of white feathers.

More signs of spring cropping up in the middle of winter. Oak buds beginning to develop half way through January.
