The remains of hollyhock flowers, some covered in early morning frost. The others were in direct sun, so the frost had gone in the few minutes since dawn.

Common inkcaps seem to occur less frequently than some other inkcap mushroom species, at least around here. These were half-hidden by the vegetation and fallen leaves around a felled tree trunk.

Small slug climbing up a window so it is lit from behind. The body is darkest where the shell is hidden under its skin, and becomes transparent towards the tail.

Jackdaw on a branch, watching

Bridgnorth’s Castle Walk runs along the top of the cliff looking down on the Severn valley, and often gives good views of local birds.

This jackdaw was sitting on a branch taking care of its feathers, while keeping an eye out in case I was going to threaten it.
