Half a dozen cygnets and a parent swan swimming near the shore of the lake in West Park. The chicks may only have hatched in the previous twenty-four hours.

The greylag goslings featured in the previous post, on a revisit later the same day. The chicks were now intently exploring the short grass by the path in search of things to eat. One adult was on watch, goose stepping to keep up with the young ones.

Two young greylag goslings by West Park lake on a cool and damp early morning, snuggling up under their mother’s wing for warmth. The male was standing a few yards away, on the watch for any danger.
