Sycamore leaf buds when they were still tightly wrapped closed. Although the twig was well up the tree, I was looking at it on a level from a canal bridge.

Blackbirds, on the ground and in a tree
Blackbirds, various locations. The pair on wood mulch were under the bird feeders at Northycote Farm. The female in short grass was in the grounds of Himley Hall. The other male was in a tree by a bridge over the canal, so I was on about the same level even though he was ten or so feet above ground level.

Greens: wild garlics after rain
Mass of green from the leaves of a patch of wild garlic, shinier after recent rain. When this picture was taken at the start of the month there were only the slightest signs of the flowers which should now be out.
Look out for them in damp, shady areas in woodland. It’s usually easiest to locate them by smell.
