Common blue damselflies ovipositing

Pairs of common blue damselflies mating, both standing on a leaf. Then the females ovipositing (depositing eggs) resting on the surface of the water while the male continues to clasp her, beating his wings rapidly to hover above.

These were on Compton Park pool early last month

Goslings eating some of the short grass on the Severn riverbank between Severnside Park and the bridge at Bridgnorth. The parents were greylag / feral goose crosses, like several of the birds in the flock which gathers where the pickings are good on this section of the river.

Young goslings swimming in the Severn right by the foot of Bridgnorth bridge, in a family group with both adults. Possibly hatched from the nest which had been on the mass of accumulated flotsam before it was removed by the Environment Agency.
