Bryony flowers in various stages of opening, and a picture concentrating on the leaves (bottom).

This snail was so busy eating that ignored me coming in close to get a better picture.

Some of the berries on the plant were beginning to ripen.

Others seemed to be about half ripe.

Yet others were beginning to approach the bright red colour which is the mark of fully ripe berries.

As the flowers indicate, knapweeds are related to thistles.
