All the cones seemed to be concentrated at the top of this tree behind the Conservatory in West Park.

The seeds had  just started to go from this dandelion. The camera was almost touching the plant, making it look distorted.

It looks more peaceful than it sounds, with the heavy traffic on the Bridgnorth Road nearby.

Two views from the canal towpath. Looking across the fields to Brewood village, and the view along the canal to the south. I only moved a few paces between taking the two pictures.

The top picture is of a plant growing by the Railway Walk in the Smestow Valley LNR: the others of a self-seeded plant in a garden.

These were of a cultivated conifer in a garden facing onto Compton Road. I’ve exaggerated the odd appearance by holding the camera very close to the subject and zooming the lens to its widest angle setting.

At this time of year striking flowers start to show in front gardens. These star magnolia blossoms were from the same bush.

The mahonia and the elaborate ornamental cherry were close neighbours near to Codsall church.

The vivid pieris leaves were on bushes in front of two houses on the same street.

The flowers in one of the pots in front of Bantock House bearing up surprisingly well after a morning of persistent heavy rain.

Hopefully this one will be more resistant than the previous statue.

A large patch of violets – and just the one clump of primroses.

This famous pub is a dramatic example of how human activity can impact on the landscape. The crazy distortions from the level can give the feeling of being drunk when entering, without a drop (yet) being taken. Its condition is all down to subsidence from the former mines there.
