Two toads busy mating in the middle of the main footpath through Baggeridge Country Park. Although the spot was roughly half way between the car parks at Baggeridge ant at Himley Hall, the path is usually fairly busy with walkers, joggers, the occasional cyclist and plenty of dogs off the lead. The toads weren’t taking any notice.

Recently hatched goslings, Bridgnorth
Lots of goslings in the river and te=he riverbank at Bridgnorth, from their size, not long hatched. The water was quite low that year, so they had some exposed sand to stand on.
Ducklings, Church Pool, Badger
Mallard ducklings on the upper pool at the edge of Badger village. More pictures from my archive, taken fifteen years ago. With any luck, there should be ducklings on the Badger pools right now.
Copper beech, very red, flowering
A copper beech with newly unfurled leaves and its spring feathers. The intense red colour will fade as the season progresses.
Lone grebe with young, Pool Hall
A great created grebe carrying one or possibly two young chicks on its back as it swims across the angling water at Pool Hall. It’s somewhere I would struggle to get to in my current condition: the pictures were taken ten yeats ago.
Deer feeding, Cannock Chase
A small group of deer feeding round the base of a tree on the edge of Cannock Chase. The pictures date back to 2011, but I never previously got round to posting them.
