One of the West Park swans rose out of the water to stretch its muscles. Then it rested back down and twosted its neck to dip its beak in the water.

Ashy mining bee at work
An ashy mining bee, busy gathering pollen from, if I remember correctly, hawkbit flowers growing as weeds on the side streets near the city centre Sainsbury’s.
Honey bees on alkanet flowers
A warm morning, so honey bees were busy gathering nectar from the bright blue flowers of alkanet plants.
Cistus, flowers opening
Cistus (rock rose) flowers just opening. The popular garden shrub is originally from the Mediterranean regions, but seems to thrive here in a wetter and cooler climate.
New brooms
Three broom bushes with different flowers, all growing together so their flowers were juxtaposed before I moved in close, presumably planted for that effect in West Park.
Cocky magpie
A magpie almost within reach, well aware of my presence, taking care, but not really worried or feeling any need to take evasive action.
