Two adult coots and some chicks. I didn’t watch for long enough to observe whether the adults were a pair, or whether the chicks were theirs.

From very early in May, a greater celandine plant which had forced its way through the pavement of a residential street was flowering.

A magnolia by the lake in West Park. The thin stems which held the flowers were growing straight upwards from the branches. The tree was flowering back in early May.

At the start of this month, the West Park Canada goose goslings were once again out on the grass near the lake, busy feeding under the supervision of their parents. All five originally hatched were still there, growing fast.
