A large patch of violets – and just the one clump of primroses.

This famous pub is a dramatic example of how human activity can impact on the landscape. The crazy distortions from the level can give the feeling of being drunk when entering, without a drop (yet) being taken. Its condition is all down to subsidence from the former mines there.

The butterfly was safe in the middle of a bramble patch as it rested with its wings outstretched to warm itself in the morning sunlight.

O.K., not actually the (only) real goal, but the Mermaid was a very welcome refuge from an unexpected April shower.
