It wasn’t possible to move in for a close-up: these plants were in one of the fenced-off beds under trees in West Park.

The grey and yellow lichens were so closely intertwined they almost seemed to be growing on each other.

When the buttercups begin to flower, I usually think spring is starting to give way to summer. With the weather this year, I am not so sure.

I liked the pattern made by the flowers.

Much larger flowers than the wild variety (fruit too, later on).

This particular clump of St George’s mushroom were growing on a grassy bank, so I could get pictures showing the underside of the caps in situ without needing to lie down in the wet grass.
