Swallows nest in the barns at Mary Arden’s Farm every summer. When I visited in late August, this was the last nest with chicks still being fed by the parents.
The young looked like they would be ready to fly shortly, so that the birds could soon set off on their long journey to get the benefit of the southern hemisphere summer.
