Dunnock

Dunnock

A dunnock, a.k.a. hedge sparrow.They look like slightly smaller versions of house sparrows, but are not closely related.

You didn’t mention the other differences like having a lovely piping little song, or point out the beautiful blue grey colour on its throat and head.

Also it’s bird which glories in three names: it’s a hedge accentor as well, having a European cousin called the Alpine Accentor (I seem to remember)
